Having 3 generations or more of Normal elbows greatly reduces the chances of offspring being dysplastic.The surgical repair for dysplasia is $1500-4000 per elbow. Golden retrievers are ranked #31 out of 117 higher risk breeds for elbow dysplasia. OFA is the only organization currently offering elbow evaluation int eh US. OFA Elbows - Our dogs are x-ray evaluated at 24 months of age or more for Normal elbows. The surgical repair for dysplasia is over $4,000 per hip and takes a 1-2 month recovery period. Having 3 generations or more of tested parents greatly reduces the risk of hip dysplasia. 20.1% of the golden retriever population is dysplastic. Goldens are ranked #41 out of 177 higher risk breeds for hip dysplasia. Only Excellent, Good, and Fair are passing ratings. OFA Hips - Our dogs are x-ray evaluated at 24 months of age or older.
